人間佛教的「普泛原則」與「歷史維度」 — 星雲大師與法舫法師人間佛教思想之啟發=The “Universalism” and “Historicism” of Humanistic Buddhism: Venerable Master Hsing Yun and Venerable Master Fa Fang's Thoughts on the Ideology of Humanistic Buddhism
Humanistic Buddhism has spread and is practiced worldwide. It plays an important role in the modernization and development of contemporary Buddhism. This paper discusses how, as a result of the multiplicity of practices in Humanistic Buddhism, Buddhist communities both internally and externally have recognized a number of problems associated with Humanistic Buddhism. These issues include questions of the secular and profane, the position of Humanistic Buddhism in the whole Buddhist system, issues of precepts, meditation, wisdom, the issue of diversity, worldliness, and so forth. Thus, by reviewing Venerable Master Hsing Yun and Venerable Master Fa Fang’s thoughts on Humanistic Buddhism, focusing on both their “universalist” and “historicist” dimensions, we shall answer questions and clear doubts concerning the ongoing development of Humanistic Buddhism.
