It has effectively spread and transformed Buddhism in contemporary society. The practice of the modernization of contemporary Buddhism has four main aspects. First, to transform traditional Buddhism, separated and isolated from the public, into a Buddhist faith that is practiced in daily living. Second, to interpret the doctrines of traditional Buddhism too profound and difficult to understand into common and simple words. Therefore, Buddhist doctrines can be accessible and accepted. Third, to reform the constricted systems of education in traditional Buddhism, making them open and modern. Fourth, to promote and practice the equal rights of men and women in response to gender discrimination existing within traditional Buddhism.
