Venerable Master Hsing Yun emphasizes the significance of Buddhist ethics in the purification of the human world. Buddhist ethics are exhibited, epitomized and made viable through the Humanistic Buddhist praxis such as the Three Acts of Goodness and the Four Givings. The fundamental Buddhist ethical theory allows an individual to act out of one’s personal restraint and inner will, yet still grounded and guided by Buddhist ethical framework. Hence, Buddhist ethics are perceived as a proactive and practical process. More so, Buddhist ethics are distinct from other ethical systems because of cultural characteristics. As such, it becomes more relevant and connected to one’s personal life.
