The study of this thesis mainly focus on the metaphorical literature of Ekottara Āgama. Firstly, not only analyze the methodology and its characteristic in Ekottara Āgama but also its source of metaphorical material, learn its essence of combination of doctrine and metaphor. Secondly, examine the doctrine in Ekottara Āgama, include in purifying our body, speech and mind, whether it composes of Mahāyāna thoughts and examples of practicing the Boddhisattva’s path. Thirdly, analyze the application of Ekottara Āgama in modern society, reveal its adaption in reading and practical way, or its transforming way to let people be familiar with the Dharma in nowadays.
