人文紀錄片的藏傳佛教敘事： 以林麗芳《心子》、《朝聖者》與《尊瑪尊瑪》為例=The Narrative of Tibetan Buddhism in the Humanities Documentaries ： Lin Li-Fang’s Buddha’s Sons, The Returners, and TsunmaTsunma
The Dalai Lama, a Tibetan religious leader in exile in India, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. This particular honor has greatly enhanced the international visibility and influence of theDalai Lama and Tibetan Buddhism. The films and documentaries featuring the Dalai Lama and the monks of the Tibetan monasteries have been presented to the world in various languages. This thesis is based on Lin Li-Fang’s three humanities documentaries featuring Tibetan Buddhist monks,namely Buddha’s Sons(2005), The Returners(2008), and Tsunma, Tsunma: My Summer with the Female Monastics of the Himalaya (2018). This thesis analyzes the documentary narrative and ethics of documentary production, the cultural continuity of Tibetan children entering monastic life, the monastic education system of Tibetan Buddhism Gelugpa ¬and its features, and the initiative and empowerment process of Tibetan women's self-searching. Through analyzingthe narrative aesthetics of the documentaries, this thesis isto explore the documentary creator’s reproduction of the image of Tibetan Buddhism monks and nuns, to convey the Tibetan religious culture, and to enhance Taiwanese society’s understanding of Tibetan Buddhism.
