This paper analyzes and discusses the specific development of Chinese Tian-Tai’s buddhist education in modern and contemporary times (from the 1850s to the 21st century). It is divided into ten chapters. The whole paper takes Tian-Tai’masters as the clue and runs through them. These masters are divided into the school which follows Master Di Xian, the school influenced by Tian-tai and the other school. The first chapter introduces the research materials and methods of this paper, and the second chapter gives a general description and analysis of modern and contemporary buddhism, especially the buddhist education as well as the buddhist monastic education. It is focused on the analysis and discussion of the modern contemporary Tian-tai’s masters’s buddhist education from Chapter One to Chapter Nine. The topics of discussion are based on the following sequence. Chapter Three is about Master Di Xian and Guan Zong Temple. Chapter Four discusses Master Bao Jing's persistence in the Hongfa Institute and his buddhist education.Chapter Five discusses Master Tan Xu’s buddhist education career in the northeast and north of China. Chapter Six shows extensively the development of buddhist education in mainland China operated by the school which follows Master Di Xian, the school influenced by Tian-tai and the other school. Chapter Seven and Chapter Eight discuss the spread of Tian-Tai in Taiwan,Hong Kong and overseas respectively. Chapter Nine describes some rare but neglected Tian-Tai’s masters and also gives some special cases to arouse some thoughts about the Chinese Tian-Tai’s buddhist education. In terms of the Chapter Ten, chapter ten summarizes modern and contemporary Chinese Tian-Tai’s buddhist education, mainly focusing on the characteristics and contributions of Tian-Tai in the buddhist education and the shortcomings of Tian-Tai in the development of buddhist education.
