The primary objective of this study is to explore and compare the connotations of altruistic ideology and behaviors between Confucianism and Buddhism.This study uses literature analysis, author define the altruistic ideology and behaviors of the Confucianism including Mencius and Sutra. Confucian altruism that is based on Ren gain Ren mind through the RenZhiFang. Confucian altruism demonstrates RenAi when practicing in procedure of XiuQiZhiPing.XiuQi practice by Xiao,Li and ZhongShu ,ZhiPing practice by Hui,People-Based Thoughts and Bestow masses. Buddhistic altruism which is based on bodhi mind obtain bodhi mind through the Bodhisattva. Buddhistic altruism shows equality while fulfilling in procedure of benefit self and others.Benefit others practice by Giving and Kind Words(Morality and Patience), Benefit self practice by Altruism(Perseverance) and Empathy(Meditative Concentration and Wisdom). To compare the Altruistic ideology of Confucianism and Buddhism, there is four induction: 1. Ren mind and Bodhi mind is the outset of Confucian and Buddhistic Altruistic ideology.The mind is easy to initiate ,but also easy to die away. Ren mind is the starting point and the destination simultaneously. Bodhi mind will means Empty in the end. 2.In attitude, Confucianism help others in prioity of consanguinity. while Buddhism shows equality when helping others 3.In the helping procedure , Confucianism benefit others(ZhiPing) after self (XiuQi), Buddhism benefit others and self in the same time. 4.Compare and explore Confucian and Buddhistic Altruistic ideology according to Ma Chin-Chiang’s theory. To put Confucian and Buddhistic Altruistic behavior into practice shows some similiarities and differences in three aspect: 1. In benefit self aspect, Shu and Empathy can achieve others, but ego is a prerequisite for Shu. Both ZhongXueJinDe and Perseverance promote self by learning 2.In benefit self and benefit others aspect, both Li and Morality can regulate people’s outside behaviors and can make positive influence on society.They shows high flexibility but low forcilibity. Ren and Kind words means speaking carefully. 3.In benefit others aspect, Giving is similar to Behavior of Yi . But Behavior of Yi carries on only in holding an official position.. Hope this reaserch can improve our understanding about Altruistic ideology of Confucianism and Buddhism.
