This thesis researches the local legends of An-ping old community temple. It uses the gradually disappearing local literature materials preserved to investigate the constructive causes and characteristics presented by the local legend of An-ping old community temple legends. The reasons why I study the constructive causes for the local temple legends of An-ping old community to explain the prevalence of those legends are listed as following : 1. Historic reason will be discussed the effects of life style change in An-ping old community on development of local religious belief. ; 2. Natural environment reason will be discussed the effects of natural environment change on development of local religious belief.; 3. Economic reason will be revealed the relationship between the career category of people in the An-ping old community and prevalence of those local legends by statistical analysis of career category people in the An-ping old community. Next, characteristics of An-ping old community temple legends will be organized as following: 1. Exerting the influence of local religion ; 2. Presenting the evolution of local history and humanities ; 3. Reflecting the changes of local natural environment ; 4. Depicting the local people’s life. 5. Passing down the special meaning of culture; 6. Verifying the variability of local legends. Totally, this research is divided into five chapters. Chapter Ⅰ is introduction, which explains the study motive and purpose, the study scope, relevant document discussion, and the study method. Chapter Ⅱ introduces the natural environment and historical humanities of An-ping old community. Chapter Ⅲ is to collect and organize all the temple legends in An-ping old community divided as public and private temples. Chapter Ⅳ is to investigate the constructive cause and characteristic for each individual An-ping old community temple legend. Finally, chapter Ⅴ is conclusion, which summarizes the key points of each chapter.
