Religious rites provoke the inner emotional feelings towards devotion. The ritual music and chanting are ways of presenting the sacred atmosphere. In many of the Tibetan Buddhism ritual activities the music serve as an indispensable element . Under a particular ritual situation, combining the chanting of sutras or mantras and playing instrumental music present the unique characteristics of Tibetan Buddhist rituals and its unique cultural performances. The author wants to understand its unique and rich connotations from the discussion of Tibetan Buddhist rituals and music, as well as the practice of the rituals and music in Taiwan's prayer meeting after they were introduced to Taiwan. The Ritual tunes may serve as an attraction to approach the religious beliefs. The author point out two important elements in the traditional buddhist ritual music. And three types of melody: Don(འདུན།),Yang(དབྱངས།),Dgangs(གདངས།). Throughout the music score diagrams presented to give a better understanding of the tunes played as well as its function. By means of interviewing several long time tibetan buddhists and head of Buddhist associations to explore the practices of monlan in Taiwan. By examining the programs to analyse the changes and the possible trend of localization.The author intends to explore its unique and rich connotations through depicting Tibetan Buddhist rituals and music, as well as the practice of the some specific rituals and music in Taiwan .
