The historical records of Wuyi tea can date back to the Tang Dynasty. In Song Dynasty, Wuyi tea became famous because Cai Xiang and others developed the renowned "dragon dough and phoenix cake". However, it was very costly because of the delicate production procedures. Emperor Yuanzhang Zhu in the Ming Dynasty transformed the expensive "dragon ball and phoenix cake" to lose tea for tribute and changed the history of tea. The efficacy of Wuyishan rock tea and meditation is related in that the practitioner's inner meditation state can influence the performance of the tea broth during tea walking and tea tasting. On the other hand, the "aura" of tea broth can also help the practitioners to improve his inner meditation state. The relationship between Tiantai and Wuyi Mountain dates back to the Tang Dynasty, Two Zen masters, Kuan Hsu and Kuan Bing, closely interaction at Tianxin Yongle Zen Temple in Wuyi Mountain, they usually discussed the general meaning of Buddhism over tea feasts. In Song Dynasty, Japanese Zen masters Eisai and Dogen arrived at the temple to seek Buddhism teachings. They visited the "miracle of the milk flower" scenery, where tea was served to the Buddhist monks at Shiqiao Luohan. In Tiantai Mountain, there are many tea-meditation temples, such as Guoqing temple, which became the ancestral temple of tea meditation and Tiantai Buddhism in Japan and Korea. In meditation, one can observe the "breath" and "mind", while inspecting the "body". This method can open up the mind and the eyes without obstacles. In this thesis, the author attempts to integrate his personal experiences in Wuyi Tea with practice with- "Xiao Zhi Guan". For example, the author describes the practical experience of studying Wuyi Rock Tea in Chapter 6. The author portrays the state of unifying the body, breath, and mind in the present moment during tea walking and tasting, Based on the practice of "Tiantai Zhi Guan". The author also extends the "18 Postures of Long Xing", created by Monk Zen Hui in the Song Dynasty, to formulate the "12 Postures of Tiantai Tea Meditation" as a guideline for Wuyi rock tea practitioners for tea walking and tea tasting. The "12 Postures of Tiantai Tea Meditation" are designed to be practiced by Wuyi rock tea practitioners to achieve the state of "Three Stopping and Three Contemplation" and "Three Paths of Perfection" in Tiantai.
