The health benefits of practicing Tai Chi are widely known. However, if one is committed to only physical training without spiritual enhancement, the mundane and distracting sentiments, such as happiness, anger, anxiety, ponderation, grief, fear, and terror, would stop the person from advancing the practice of Kung Fu. Tai Chi Quan and Buddhism cultivation both seek after the final destination of the “heart.” Based on the wisdom of enlightenment, Zen Buddhist education highlights “self-awareness and realization.” It believes that the “heart” is omnipotent and considers “svabhāva (self-nature)” equivalent to “Buddha.” Becoming Buddha requires not external pursuits. Instead, recognizing one’s self-nature makes the person a Buddha. The Tathāgatagarbha features the Zen philosophy in pursuit of the deepest calmness internally and gentleness externally, and such philosophy echoes the practice of Tai Chi Quan. This study focuses on the moving meditation of Tai Chi based on “awareness education” and “environmental art education” proposed by Master Hsiao-Yun, founder of Huafan University. Through taking pictures and short videos that incorporate environmental education and Tai Chi actions on campus, Tai Chi and environmental art education are implemented in accordance with the funding belief of Master Hsiao-Yun. The study also demonstrates the union of humans and heaven in the practitioners of static Tai Chi featuring campus art. In terms of the impact of practicing Tai Chi Quan on its practitioners, general studies focus on the physical and mental benefits of practicing Tai Chi Quan without further discussion on the impact of Zen meditation on Tai Chi Quan practices. The researcher of this study recognizes the significant impact of Zen meditation on the extent of relaxation in Tai Chi Quan. The moving meditation of Tai Chi is a demonstration of performing art. Other than practicing moving meditation through Tai Chi Quan to strengthen health conditions, connecting the practice with the cultivation of mental stability and Tathāgatagarbha mentality will further lead to mental and spiritual enhancement, which is also beneficial to Tai Chi practices.
