In thesis, three themes of practicing meditation, emphasizing participation and religious dialogue are to presentfor which the practice of Thich Nhat Hanh’s Engaged Buddhism. Engaged Buddhism are from the fusion of Mahayana and Theravadain, and into the interaction of body and functionin philosophical thinking.The main content is to state the ideological system of Engaged Buddhism, which is also a portrayal of Thich Nhat Hanh’s life mission. The whole process of a lifetime of thinking was divided into four periods: (1) the period of thought germination, (2) the period of thought formation, (3) the period of thought practice, and (4) the period of thought development. At the same time, it analyze and describe the significance, value and contribution of each period. First of all, Thich Nhat Hanh’s was in the background of Vietnamese Buddhism and Vietnam War. Later, he was influenced by Master Taixu’s revival of Buddhism and inspired the germination of his engaged thinking. Then he spend forty years to missions around the world, promoted mindfulness practice and religious exchanges, and embodied the spirit of Engaged Buddhism. In addition, we made a complete discussion of his contribution to the international community and peace, his life and his writings, and his influence on the future of Buddhism. From the overall point of view of Buddhist thought, after analysis and induction, four signs of self-cultivation, peace, participation and compassion are obtained. Finally, these four signs is a subtle interdependence between each other. It is precisely the interpretation of the interbeing created by Thich Nhat Hanh.The interbeing, which is core in this thesis, is from Avatamsaka Sutra thinking, to present that one is more, more is one.
