摘要
本文所述的佛教玄奘大學，是由中國佛教會在台灣發起的首所的佛教大學，這所大學的創建是由台灣佛教界全體信眾共同捐款支持，經過十年的籌備和共同募資而實現。 建立一所大學的初期投入需要龐大的資金和精神，包括募款建校、土地取得、創校理念與願景、校舍興建等多方面的開支和籌畫，這往往是初創學府面臨的首要困擾，透過深度研究這些方面，我們可以獲得更多有價值的啟示，不僅有助於了解玄奘大學在當時的影響力，也希望能提供其他初創學府在發展過程中的參考與啟發。 玄奘大學與其他佛教學校不同的是，其成立宗旨並不僅僅在於傳授教義，相反，玄奘大學依循教育部的規定，致力於提供有志接受高等教育的青年人一個理想修業的環境，其目標是培養為國家及社會所需的人才，展現了對教育多元性的追求。然而，正因為玄奘大學的勸募發起及其特殊性，更令我加深了研究的動機，透過這項研究，筆者期望深入了解玄奘大學如何在這方面發揮作用，進而對社會及佛教界帶來何種潛移默化深遠的影響。台灣的高等教育框架一直在不斷的改革與進展之中，而少子化的現象對於各大學的學生來源及其發展同樣造成了深遠的影響，本文擬通過審視玄奘大學的創校過程，初探對當代高等教育環境的見解，並評估未來可能會面臨的問題與挑戰。 The Buddhist Hsuan Chuang University mentioned in this article is the first Buddhist university initiated by the Chinese Buddhist Association in Taiwan. The establishment of this university was supported by the collective donations of the entire Buddhist community in Taiwan and realized through ten years of preparation and joint fundraising. The initial investment in establishing a university requires a large amount of funds and spirit, including expenses and planning for fundraising, land acquisition, school building, and the formulation of the school’s vision and mission. These are often the primary concerns for newly established schools. Through in-depth research on these aspects, we can gain more valuable insights, which not only help to understand the influence of Hsuan Chuang University at that time but also hope to provide references and inspirations for other newly established schools in their development process. Unlike other Buddhist schools, the founding purpose of Hsuan Chuang University is not merely to teach doctrines. On the contrary, Hsuan Chuang University follows the regulations of the Ministry of Education and is committed to providing an ideal learning environment for young people who are interested in receiving higher education. Its goal is to cultivate talents needed by the country and society, demonstrating its pursuit of educational diversity. However, due to the fundraising initiation and its uniqueness of Hsuan Chuang University, it deepens my motivation for research. Through this study, I hope to deeply understand how Hsuan Chuang University plays a role in this regard, and then bring about what kind of subtle and far-reaching influence on society and the Buddhist community. Taiwan’s higher education framework has been continuously reforming and progressing, and the phenomenon of low birth rate has also had a profound impact on the source of students and their development in various universities. This article intends to examine the founding process of Hsuan Chuang University, make a preliminary exploration of the views on the contemporary higher education environment, and evaluate the problems and challenges that may be faced in the future.
