In the 50 years since the founding of Fo Guang Shan, Venerable Master Hsing Yun has brought Humanistic Buddhism through an important religious milestone in human civilization. As compared to the absolutism of Western religions, Humanistic Buddhism’s acceptance, harmony, and integration holds a deep meaning for the era in the development of a global civilization. This paper discusses the significance of Humanistic Buddhism through social network theory, from the link between weak interpersonal relations and structural holes. At the same time, it also delves on the significance of Humanistic Buddhism with regard to world civilization through reflections.
