This study investigates the narrative healing aspects of radio broadcasting, focusing on the author and five listeners of the Dai Ai radio program. The research aims to understand factors contributing to life changes and behavior modifications in participants after listening to the program, and how life narratives in radio broadcasting generate healing effects. It examines the author’s life narratives, Dai Ai Radio’s 30th Anniversary publications, and text data from live interactions between hosts and listeners of the live program. The author conducted semi-structured, in-depth interviews to understand how life narratives in radio programs can trigger changes in listeners’ thoughts and behaviors. The first section discusses the author’s life narratives, highlighting significant life events such as family members’ strokes, dementia, and sudden deaths, and how Dai Ai Radio facilitated self-healing and transformation. The second section explores the listeners’ life narratives, detailing with changes in their lives after listening to the program, how they overcame difficulties and experienced healing during their suffering. The third section focuses on “Horizons of Females Living in Eastern Taiwan,” a live program on Dai Ai Radio that encourages listener participation and creates a shared life narrative space. The program’s “stories inspiring stories” approach allows listeners to reinterpret their experiences, give new meaning to their lives, and rewrite their life stories, generating continual healing impacts. Overall, the study highlights the significant linguistic impact of Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s teachings and the life stories of Tzu Chi volunteers, which frequently reference the Jing Si Aphorisms.
