Venerable Master Hsing Yun, founder of Fo Guang Shan, laid solid foundations for the cultivation of talent through education. When sorting through the writings published by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the author found that Venerable Master realizes the importance of education for both the nation and society. The author also found that Venerable Master Hsing Yun, since his youth, understands that the revitalization and heritage of Buddhism relies on education. As far as social education is concerned Venerable Master Hsing Yun, over the past decades, spared no effort in developing an education system comprising kindergartens, elementary schools, high schools, and universities. As for education, Venerable Master Hsing Yun established a number of Buddhist colleges and Buddhist universities, adopting the theories of Humanistic Buddhism to encourage the laity to learn the Dharma and apply it in their daily lives. Based on the findings stated above, there is no doubt that Venerable Master Hsing Yun has committed himself to transforming Buddhist monasteries into not only Pure Lands, but educational facilities for the laity, allowing both clergy and laity to abide in the joy of Dharma.
