During these years the interaction between the East and West cultures has been more tension than ever. Based on the """"Culture-inclusive Theories"""" proposed by Professor Hwang, the Self is the core which reflect different view. Therefore, to investigate another path between these two cultures, we will doubt the existence of the Self, as well as construct Self-cultivation theories to support it. The purpose of this research is trying to investigate whether the Self in Jungian psychology existence or not and further analysis the self-cultivation theory base on the Buddhist Classics. The idea of materialism is not the only path toward exploring psychology and we still need more discussion about how to apply different kind of methodology on the unknown area of psychology. The Asian values self-cultivation and Jung’s Self is also influenced by Eastern culture too. Therefore, my thesis will start from the discussion of Self and analysis the existence of Self from the view of Madhyamika. Then, after the construction of Non-Self cultivation theory, I will continue interpreting the Buddhist Classics. I try to use the Buddhist theory as my research methodology and try to connect it to this research topic. The non-self is related to the Law of Dependent Origination and the complete cultivation theory such as the psychological cultivation, behavior from the classics, and the self-cultivation theories from the Authenticity, all of them are constructed by the Causality, Law of Dependent Origination. The result of self-cultivation is achieving the completion-stage. We will stand on the view of Non-self theory or the concept of Non-Substantiality from Madhyamika to achieve a completion-stage step by step. Hence, this research makes a thorough inquiry to explain there is no self from the view of Madhyamika. Under this premise, I explain the self-cultivation from the perspective of Hetuvidyā, and distinguish the difference of self between Buddhism and Jungian psychology. In summary, the goal of self-cultivation research is to explore the development possibility of a perfect personality trait.
