Abstract | This article is a profile of the Dalai Lama who was 9th in nominations for the survey sponsored by the magazine titled "Heroes of Our Time." The author states that the Dalai Lama is a globally recognized spiritual and moral leader as well as being the voice and symbol of Tibet, his native country, under Chinese domination since 1950. His teachings of tolerance, non-violence, and the importance of the spiritual life have gone beyond his religious following and into mainstream thinking. |
