Abstract自熊十力、梁漱溟以來,當代新儒家如同宋明新儒家,對儒家與 佛學之間的多向度的意義交涉,以及由此展開的理論分判,確實已作了 兼顧文本詮釋與哲學言說的探索工作,而其間應以牟宗三所從事的揀 別、對比及概念性的演繹及辨證,最具有典範性的作用。 以人文精神與人文素養為關懷導向的儒學,基本上即具有與佛學 有所不同的學術性格。自孔子、孟子以來,意圖建立一個足以實現美善 的人文世界與生活世界,一直是儒家最深最真也最強烈的關切。不過, 在出世與入世、上迴向與下迴向之間,儒家與佛家並不必然有所齟齬, 因為上下出入之際其實潛藏著雙向並行的意義進程,特別是在大乘佛學 興起之後,儒佛之間的交涉與對諍,更大有互動的態勢,而在異質的理 念與分殊的系統之外,二者的相互較勁也不必然以零和作收。
