Abstract | 「佛性」為中國佛教的核心思想課題。中國佛性思想基本上是環繞以下四個論題展開: 1.「佛性」的界定 2.佛性的類別、和各類別佛性的涵義 3.佛性跟眾生的關係 4.是否一切眾生皆有佛性 本文探討這些論題在南北朝時期出現的背景,以及申示這時期的佛性論者如何各依不同教學進路,自不同層面,就不同角度,對這些論題作出不同詮釋。
‘Buddha-nature’ is a central theme in Chinese Buddhist thought. Discussions about Buddha-nature in China generally centre around four basic questions: 1. The meaning of the term ‘Buddha-nature’ 2. Different types of Buddha-nature and their significance 3. The relation between Buddha-nature and sentient beings 4. Whether all sentient beings without exception possess Buddha-nature This paper explains how and why these questions first appeared in the fifth century, and examines the different ways early Chinese Buddha-nature theorists, with their different doctrinal backgrounds, approached and answered these questions. |
