Abstract | The aim of thesis entitled "The Education of Sangha in Myanmar" which began from the original education system until the present education system and it has compared the education of Thai Sangha with the education of Myanmar in some point. I studied these concepts by the way of chapterisations which are divided into the main 5 chapters. The followings are the brief outlines of each chapters which I have studied. The first chapter is an introduction about the structure of research's project. In the second chapter, it is the original education system of Myanmar Sangha. In the third chapter, it is the present education system of Myanmar Sangha. In the fourth chapter, it is the comparative education of Thai Sangha with Myanmar Sangha. Lastly, in the fifth chapter, it is the conclusion and suggestion.
The Education of Sangha in Myanmar can devide into two kinds namely. 1. The Original Education 2. The present Education
The Original Education can divide into two kinds too namely the study of Buddhist scriptures and the practicable study.
The study of Buddhist scriptures. There are five periods as follows : 1. Pukam 2. Paengya - Yongyon 3. Kunbong 4. England governed Burma 5. Japan governed Burma
The practicable study. There are many meditation centers. But here they are brought to study specially three meditation centers as follows : 1. Mahasi Sayadaw 2. Sunlum Sayadaw 3. Mogok Sayadaw
The Present education. The syllabus of the education of Sangha in Myanmar has four kinds. 1. Annual examination 2. University system 3. Pitaka preservation 4. Study of the pitaka and commentary
Besides the above mentioned, Researcher has compared the education of Thai Sangha with education of Myanmar Sangha in the both study of Buddhist scriptures and the practicable study. The Myanmar sangha education in the study of Buddhist scriptures can retian the Pitaka steadily. But the Thai Sangha education in the study of Buddhist scriptures improve the worldly subjects addition in it. The practicable study in Myanmar is only insight meditation. But the practicable in Thailand has both calmness and insight meditation.
From his studies of the research about the Education of Sangha in Myanmar, the researcher found there are many interesting things, namely, The insight meditation centers in Myanmar were not mentioned it in this thesis such as Monhyn Sayadaw, Paok Sayadaw, U Ba Khin etc. and then brought them to comparative study with the calmness and insight meditation in Thailand as Wat Phradhammakaya, Wat Asokaram, Naeb Mahaneeranon etc. The research study has some point similar and different so for benefit of the person who is interested in practicing Dhamma, one can choose as one desires. |
