Abstract | 《大乘起信論》和《壇經》是兩部在中國佛教史上有重要影響的佛教典籍。前者在內容上體現了印度佛學向中國佛學過渡的特點,后者則在思想體系以及實踐方式上對其進行一定程度的借鑒和發揮,形成了一部中國化“經”書。因此,兩者在很多方面存在著諸多的聯系。本文從“真如緣起”、“佛性與人性”、“修為方法”和“體用關系”等四方面分析了《壇經》對《大乘起信論》思想的吸收和發展。指出二者在佛學理論上的一致性和相異之處,并對兩部經典在佛教史及其文化史上的重要意義給予說明。
The paper extends from the Awakening of Mahayana Faith(edition of Tang dynasty)and the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch(Dunhuang new edition),the two worldwidely distinguished Mahayana masterpieces. Taking some other Buddhism materials and the well-known scholar’s achievements as reference,by means of antitheses and analytical method, I work over these two sutra books from the following points to find in the Platform Sutra the traces of the Awakening of Mahayana Faith. That is to prove Huineng( the narrater of Tanjing)borrowed the system info and practice form from the Awakening of Mahayana Faith to fulfil his own doctrine so as to direct people’s austerities.The notion that the arising of all phenomena depends upon Tathata is the center of the Awakening of Mahayana Faith,which illuminates dharma is the mind of the sentient beings,while the latter contains all kinds of dharma. For the defilement and purity trait of Tathata,the aim of practising dharma is to cultivate one’s mind to reach the state of purity. This viewpoint was shared by Huineng,yet instead of Alaya-Consciousness,he used self-nature when expressing dependent arising theory. Same with the Awakening of Mahayana Faith, he aslo was a preacher of Buddha-nature Treatise,believing Buddha-nature equally existed in all beings,so becoming a buddha is just the course of returing to our original real-self. En route from human to buddha,the Sutra simplified the process of combining innate enlightenmen and initial enlightenment insisted by the Awakening of Mahayana Faith,but still not a easy thing to enlight. Huineng rebuilt the penance approach into Chan school’s system,he didn’t advocate strict precepts and rules, just implemented by his own understanding. These two masterpieces both don’t take getting rid of the mundane world to accomplish supramundane as a must step,only base on present affairs then awaken and liberate. The Awakening of Mahayana Faith constructed its system info with essence-function mode,by taking Tathata and the ’three bodies’ of the Buddha as examples to expound the relationship between essence and function---- no obstruction. Huineng used the non-duality of samādhi and prajnāto explain the oneness of essence and function. His understanding of the ’three bodies’ of the Buddha also had his own characteristic. All that is to show his claim that sentient being is buddha.Through comparing the two sutra books,we could have a clear look that the accomplishment of Chinese Buddhism is completed by absorbing and improving the essence in India Buddhism.Huineng drew the soul part from The Awakening of Mahayana Faith and made the Sutra Chinesenized and really actualized the former’s function as a bridge linking the two countries’s Buddhism culture. |
