Abstract | 迄今為止,在1267元世祖忽必烈以佑國所舉行的白傘蓋佛母儀軌仍然被認為是漢地白傘蓋佛母崇拜的起源。但是查閱《大藏經》和敦煌漢文寫本可以看出,白傘蓋佛母崇拜之主要經典在8世紀已經在中國廣為人知。由於白傘蓋佛母具有特大的保護力量,類似於忽必烈汗14世紀舉辦的儀式在8—10世紀的敦煌地區已曾在漢人中流傳,但這種傳統隨後在漢地衰落下去了。由於《白傘蓋陀羅尼經》組成了《大佛頂首楞嚴經》第七卷的核心部分主旨也發生了改變。到元代和清代,白傘蓋佛母護國的傳統在漢地再次得到恢復。
From 8th century Han-Tibetan documents discovered at Dunhuangwe can see that the Sino-Tibetan Buddhist ritual practices of White Tara were popular and influential, having as their aim the protection of the individual and the state.This tradition later died out in Han areas and the themes of the practices also changed.In the Yuan and Qing Dynasties the function of the practices as providing protection for the state were revived but were no longer linked with the political rationale of the tradition of the reincarnated sage king.
