Abstract從思想史的角度來看,鳩摩羅什和慧遠的論爭、僧肇與劉遺民的書信往來以及羅什、僧肇與道生的維摩經註疏實質上屬於一個系列的往復論爭,涅槃「有」與般若「空」的義理論爭從鳩摩羅什來華至《泥洹經》譯出之前就一直沒有消停過,這種論爭並不是一個個孤立的思想討論事件,而是有著獨特的僧團背景和文化對抗成分。
