| Abstract | 宋武帝劉裕雖「少事戎旅，不經涉學」，但隨著其社會政治地位的提高，他很重視改善自己的文化形象，一個重要的舉措就是注意利用佛教來輔助其軍事與政治活動。其方法主要有：禮遇、優待慧遠、慧觀、僧導等南北僧團領袖人物，以穩定局勢；利用佛教的影響力，製造各種符瑞，為其代晉造宋作輿論準備；延攬高僧，開展佛教義理的講論與佛經的翻譯；引佛教法師入宮唱誦佛經，表現出個人信仰的傾向。劉裕的這些舉措，對此後佛教的發展有一定的影響。
Liu Yu, Wu Di Emperor of the Song Dynasty during the Southern Dynasties, attached great importance to the promotion of his cultural with the rise of his social political and position though he claimed he "joined the army in the early age therefore not involved in study". Using Buddhism to assist his military and political actions was an important measure. The major methods were: showing kindness and patronage to the southern and northern monk group leaders to stabilize situations; using Buddhist influence for the preparation of public opinions favorable to overthrowing the East Jin Dynasty, inviting eminent monks to debate on Buddhist doctrines and translate Buddhist scriptures; introducing Buddhist monks into the palace to chant sutras. All showed the tendency of his personal faith. These measures had certain influences on the development of Buddhism in the time to come. |
