| Abstract | 主張“不立文字,教外別傳”的禪宗與傳統佛教以及一般的所謂宗教有很大的差異,這往往導致人們很難理解甚至誤解禪宗。實際上,禪宗的特徵可以概括為“生活重於教義,審美高於信仰”這十二個字。一方面,禪宗否定佛教教義,將日常生活本身當做修行;另一方面,禪宗又“呵佛罵祖”,拋棄對佛的信仰,只追求個己“禪悅”的審美境界。盡管禪宗看起來頗為離經叛道,但是禪宗依然認為自己沒有違背佛教的基本精神且最能反映佛教的終極關懷。
Chan Buddhism is very different from traditional Buddhism and generally so-called religion by advocating that daily life is more important than Buddhism doctrines while aesthetic enjoyment more important than belief.On one hand,Chan Buddhism denies Buddhism doctrine,making daily life itself as Buddhist practicing;on the other hand,Chan Buddhism deserts the belief in Buddha,just pursuing the aesthetic state of peaceful happiness in one's internal mind.Though Chan Buddhism seems as rebelling against the prevalent ideas and practices of Buddhism, it still considers that it mirrors the spirits of Buddhism most thoroughly than other sects of Buddhism.
