Abstract現存三百篇的《禪林寶訓》是取材於各種禪宗《語錄》、《傳記》、《文集》以及諸老遺語，是眾多禪師嘉言善行的匯編。它向人們展示了宋代禪學在特定歷史條件下發展的狀況及其特點，至向人們表明末代禪學尚有一股清新之風，並非全是崇尚公案機鋒、評唱以及直遠的那一套。這對重新把握和評價來以後禪宗的發展方向及其性質有某種啟迪作用。《禪林寶訓》中的許多道德言論，對現代佛教徒，甚至對所有人的修身養性都具有積極的現實意義。
