Abstract本文以佛教思想史演變脈絡為經,探討傳統「山林佛教」向現代「都市佛教」過渡的思想淵源,認為都市佛教的現代轉型,是順應人間佛教「契理契機」理念的結果;以都市佛教的現代社會參與為緯,通過歸納分析社會參與的變化,來觀察都市佛教在社會功能上的轉型,認為都市佛教通過現代社會參與,使其傳統社會功能內涵外延和擴大。論文在歷史背景的鋪墊下展開,把福州開元寺現代轉型的個案放在都市佛教發展的宏觀背景下來研究;以田野調查為主,在對都市佛教特徵作整體性描述中,突現福州開元寺獨特的品格。通過對中國語境下的宗教「世俗化」做出「宗教性的弱化」的新詮釋和「以行為動機衡量」的新取向,糾正了前人對「佛教世俗化」定義上的模糊態度。本文對這個問題進行探索,目的是以之為都市佛教在現代社會的存適提供一個個案研究實例的參照。研究結果表明,以佛教社會學的角度,對僧團進行多學科的個案研究,以反映出都市佛教不斷轉型的歷史軌跡,揭示出其轉型的複雜動因和本土化、社會化的發展規律無疑是可取的,也是有價值的。
This thesis roundly analyzes the transition of religious thoughts between traditional Seclusion Buddhism and modern Metropolis Buddhism, with the history of Buddhism thought as the longitude, and puts forward the modern transition of Metropolis Buddhism is the result of development of Humanistic Buddhism without deviating from its basic ideas and principles.
