The fundamental connotation of Humanistic Buddhism is eliminating ghosts proposed by Master Taixu and eliminating gods put forward by Master Yinshun during the period of the Republic of China. The Humanistic Buddhism theory developed step by step in Taiwan's social transformation from rigid authoritarian society to flexible authoritarian society and to democratic society. Transmitting precepts led by Buddhist Monastery Baisheng is a part of Humanistic Buddhism movements. Foguangshan and Tzu Chi, springing up in flexible authoritarian society, are the embodiment of Humanistic Buddhism movements in Taiwan's folk society. The movement has the following features: regional (Taiwan), traditional (Mainland) and international. |
