Abstract印光大師是中國近代最有影響的淨土宗高僧,被尊為中國淨土宗第十三祖。他一生以弘揚淨土教義,實踐念佛法門為己任。印光大師認為,作為末法時期的業力凡夫,單靠自力是不可能斷惑證真,了生脫死的,而必須仗佛慈力接引,帶業往生。再則,即使已證等覺之菩薩,也須迴向往生,方可圓滿佛果。因此,淨土法門乃如來普為一切上聖下凡,令其於此生中即了生死之大法。離此淨土法門,上無以圓成佛道,下無以普度眾生。印光大師認為,淨土法門之實踐方法,就是「念佛」。他說:「念佛一法,乃佛教之總持法門。」有四種念佛法門,其中尤以持名念佛,下手最易,成功最速。持名念佛,一要都攝六根,二要志心持念,三要常時無閒。如能念到全心是佛,全佛是心,心外無佛,佛外無心,無念而念,念而無念,心佛兩彰,而復雙泯時,則實相妙理,覿體顯露,西方依正,徹底圓彰。印光大師倡導的淨土念佛法門,不僅為一般佛教徒指出了奉行信、願、行以了生死的具體途徑,而且對那些落入文字知見、故弄玄虛而不知了生脫死的狂禪們,也是一有益的鍼砭,在中國近代佛教史上是有著廣泛的社會影響。
