Since the Six Dynasties , stories about miracles, supernatural powers or mysteries were plentiful. Buddhist miracles tales were a good way to encourage people to learn Buddhism, and many Buddhist miracle tales were collected. They were compiled according to the stories associated with different Sutras or were just combined randomly. The miracles tales of the Diamond Sutra are part of the Chinese Buddhists' sincere belief and practice. The spiritual stories of the Diamond Sutra have their own cultural background, and the psychological or scientific explanations are not the concern of this chapter. Therefore, the paper will concern it from the angles of Religious Life-and-Death Studies, such as the life after death and the contact between the believers and the beings of other worlds. The discussion will mainly focus on the collections, classification, and the features of the miracle tales about The Diamond Sutra. Actually, the four features of the miracles tales has become its own special culture of the scripture of the Diamond Sutra. |
