Abstract在禪的語錄或公案中,有很多說法或對話,非常今人費
解,摸不著頭腦,看似言不及義、答非所問,表面上有沒頭
沒腦之感,作者稱之為「無厘頭」禪,如:『洞山和尚因僧
問:如何是佛﹖山云:麻三斤。』<無門關>,『僧問香林
:如何是祖師西來意﹖林云:坐久成勞。』<碧岩錄>等。
但禪真是無厘頭否﹖作者於此篇中藉著以下幾項禪的思想背
景要點,來解析清理這些所謂的「無厘頭」禪:

(一)禪的目標或宗旨是覺悟,覺悟自家本有的自性,這經
驗只有參禪者知道,無法傳達他人的。

(二)禪基本上是一種自覺活動,自家真宰即是最高主體性,
故禪反對相對二元的格局。

(三)禪修學到最後還是回溯至佛教的緣起性空。

(四)禪具絕對的普遍性,故沒時間性與空間性的限制。
