Abstract宋代理學將性、理之觀念大加闡發,周敦頤與二程正是
性理思想之關鍵人物,其思想淵源,實有得於禪學與華嚴之
啟發。周敦頤曾參學於東林常總,作者認為周子太極圖說太
極(理)與陰陽(氣)之關係全是華嚴法界觀。朱子注「太
極圖」有關「無極而太極」「無極者無形,太極者有理」,
對照常總語「以空立世界,以無為萬物之祖」即是「太極無
形」——無極;「以有為果」則是太極「有理」。太極圖以
為陰陽、五行各一其性,二氣交感變化萬物而無窮,其說與
華嚴「法界,相大也」「相依乎性,性無不包」無異。通書
以誠立本,朱子以「實理」「至實無妄」論誠,殆與佛氏「
實際理地」幾無二致。二程以華嚴法界觀之理闡釋易理、中
庸等,更推廣至於性理、理事說中,主張事理一致,事必有
理、理隱事顯,此即是華嚴事理無礙的觀念。
