Abstract | This article considers a controversy in the madhyamika school of indian buddhism over the question of whether "sravakas",that is, followers of the hinayana schools, must have an understanding of emptiness ("sunyata") in order to be liberated from rebirth. the positions of bhavaviveka and candrakirti are presented and analyzed. |
