Abstract | This study is a contribution to our understanding of Chinese thought in its medieval phase and of Wang Yang-ming (1472-1529) who was the last of the creative thinkers associated with the Sung period. Wang's work was chiefly in the field of epistemology. Professor Chang's study is of the first of its kind in a western language.
