Abstract | Soka Gakkai is the Tokyo organization driving the spread of Nichiren Buddhism around the world. Metraux (Doshisha Women's College,Kyoto) examines the methodology and spirituality of the movement's successful move into several Southeast Asian societies that are following Japan's pattern of industrialization and urbanization. He also comments on its advances into two other Asian states and its small niche in Australia. He does not provide an index. |
