Abstract | In this issue of Buddhist-Christian Studies, we complete publication of the proceedings of the fourth meeting of the "Cobb-Abe" group, held in Berkeley, California, just prior to the Third International Buddhist-Christian Conference in August 1987. In volume 11 (1991), we published two essays and four responses on the theme "being-in-the-world," dealing with the nature of community in Buddhism and Christianity. In this volume, we publish two essays, by Donald Mitchell of Purdue University and by Louis Gomez of the University of Michigan, together with three responses. Professor Mitchell, writing on the church in the world, is responded to by Buddhists Reginald Ray of the Naropa Institute and Taitetsu Unno of Smith College. Louis Gomez, writing on the bodhisattva ideal and the millennium, is responded to by David Lochhead of the Vancouver School of Theology. |
