Abstract古來即有天台宗主張性具,性惡的說法。陳英善博士卻以為性具,性惡乃天台宗的方便教義,而其主哲理則是鳩摩羅什以來之遮詮式的「實相」。本文試圖以智顗「法性即無明」的主張為主軸,輔以「正因佛性」等概念的分析,證明天台宗的哲理,含有來自地論師和攝論師之宇宙創生的理論內涵;而其「法性」一詞,則染有濃厚的「真常唯心論」的色彩。因此,天台宗的哲理,並不限定在遮詮式的「實相」意涵中。而性具,性惡也確如古來學界所公認,乃天台宗的「圓教」思想,並非陳博士所以為的方便教義。
