Abstract 四祖智顗(又稱智者大師,公元538—597年)是天台宗的實際創始人。「三諦圓融」和「一心三觀」是其兩個十分重要的思想。一般以為,「一心三觀」深受二祖慧文「三智一心」的影響,「三諦圓融」深受三祖慧思諸法實相說的影響。但如就本質而言,它們卻是對被奉為天台高祖的印度中觀學派奠基人龍樹的空、假、中三範疇進行開展的結果。呂澂先生就曾指出:「天台宗說他們思想來源於龍樹,是有相當根據的。」(註1)空、假、中三範疇出自龍樹《中論》裏的一個名偈,鳩摩羅什將此漢譯為:「眾因緣生法,我說即是空,亦為是假名,亦是中道義。」(註2)質言之,「一心三觀」是在認識活動方面(「觀」)對三範疇的開展,「三諦圓融」是在認識對象方面(「諦」)對三範疇的開展。
