It deals with five aspects: the age in which the va (?) was produced, the existing Sanskrit texts and Han traslations; the selection of principal Sanskrit texts and Chinese transtations for collation; some discrepancies between Xuan Zang’s translation and the Sanskrit original and Xuan Zang’s methods of translation; and the explanatory remarks on the collation, pa- ragraphing, punctuation and annotation.
