AbstractSeven spiritual treasures in Buddhism are faith or confidence in the teachings, moral conduct, moral shame, moral dread, education, generosity and wisdom. Confidence ('saddha') in Buddhism is based on knowledge and provides a firm foundation for spiritual growth. Moral conduct ('sila') is concerned with skillfulness or wholesomeness of physical actions, words and thoughts. Moral shame and moral dread ('hiri-ottappa') protect society by instilling respect for oneself and for others. Generosity ('caga' or 'dana') is regarded as a treasure that benefits one who is able to give purely.
