| Abstract | 傳統上圖書館所扮演的角色是「知識貯藏屋」，但隨著新科技帶來的快速改變，這樣的理念受到了很大的挑戰，很多人紛紛倡議，圖書館不見得要購買館藏，只要提供使用者檢索管道即可。本文旨在探討當前圖書館面臨的困境：期刊價格上揚、圖書館經費短絀和學術出版品日益增加。並分析「擁有館藏」與「提供檢索通道」間的爭論，以期在資訊時代，面對電子出版品帶來的洪流時，圖書館在採訪作業上或擬訂館藏發展政策時如何因應，有一個明確的方向。
In this rapidly changing age of technology, the traditional view of libraries as "warehouse of knowledge" is challenged by the viewpoint of access to information. This paper disscusses the factors behind such changes: shrinking of acquisitions budgets, high-cost journals, increase in the number of scholarly publications. Then it analyze the visions of access or ownership which confronts each library, and hopes that these opinions would help the libraries in decision making of acquisions and collection development in the age of information.
