Abstract | This is a commentary and discussion of the essays in this book on Indian,Chinese and other cultures and their emotional differences. I discuss the relationship between various conceptions and theories of emotions and the understanding of these cultural differences. I also give special attention to certain (Buddhist) views of compassion and the special place of metaphors of the body in the cross-cultural understanding of emotion. |
