AbstractNeville has misrepresented whitehead's view of god's relation to the world as restrictive of freedom and as external. In fact whitehead shows that god is the giver of freedom, that god is incarnate in the world, and that the world is immanent in god. Neville claims that his alternate doctrine of god provides a better ground for Christian-Buddhist dialog. But the need for dialog is not so much common ground as recognition of complementarity, which is facilitated by whitehead's distinction of god and creativity.
