Abstract本研究主探討南印度Amaravati 和 Nagarjunakonda 兩大佛教遺址,現存初轉法輪之佛傳浮雕作品為主,試圖深入理解印度佛教藝術的圖像學特色. 本研究採用的研究方法為文獻學和圖像學式的研究,試圖現存初轉法輪石雕作品,論述其圖像所呈現的藝術題材及宗教意義.
研究結果發現:初轉法輪浮雕作品,所呈現的圖像學特色,無論就藝術形式. 情緒表達和宗教意涵等而言,整個初轉法輪呈現兩兩對比,有動態與靜態兩種畫面的對比,有歡欣與莊嚴氣氛的對比,有完成層次與未完成層次的對比. 最後針對本研究結果提出建議.
