The Other Side of Scriptures and Precepts written in the South Liang Dynasty was the earliest Buddhist story book in China. In it, females are described colorful and stories, in lively and popular forms, are related to popularize among believers basic Buddhist doctrines such as alms-giving and moral precept-following and to enable readers today to understand how Indian females at that time lived. These stories are valuable in literature and documentation in that they not only focus on typical and complicated character personality but also are described in indirect plots and lively language.
