KeywordKum Nye;
Abstract"Kum Nye" (pronounced 'Koom Nyay') is the name of a gentle Tibetan healing system which relieves stress, transforms negative patterns, and opens our senses and our hearts. The unique value of the Kum Nye system of relaxation is that it integrates and balances the physical and the psychological simultaneously. The written tradition of Kum Nye is contained in Tibetan medical texts, as well as in the ancient Vinaya texts of Buddhism, and thus is part of the lineage of spiritual and medical theories and practices which link Tibetan with Indian and Chinese medicine.
From the chapter "Sitting,": Exercise 3 - Tasting Relaxation. Breathe deeply about ten times, and slowly relax your whole body. Relax your eyes, closing them if you wish, and let your mouth fall open. Let tension slip away from your forehead and scalp. Slowly sense every part of your head - your nose, your ears, your jaw, the inside of your mouth, your cheeks - until your whole head becomes completely relaxed. Then relax the back and sides of your neck, your throat, and the underside of your chin. When you find a tense place, enjoy the sensation of tension melting away. Move to your shoulders, your chest, your arms and hands, your belly, your back, your legs and feet, even your toes. Taste the feeling of relaxation, really feel it, enjoying it more and more until nurtures every part of your body. Continue for 15 to 30 minutes.
