Abstract呂澂先生以西方近現代學術研究的方法、求真存是的精神對中印佛學的發展及特點進行系統研究,提出了以「性覺」與「性寂」區分中印佛學的思想,並對「性覺」說進行了嚴厲的批判。先生的這一觀點,表面上看,是來自於文獻的考證辨偽,是為了恢復純粹的印度佛學。但究其根本則是為了改變傳統佛學理論所導致的種種實踐上的弊端,而實現以佛教革新現實人生的積極目標。

This article explains lǜcheng's point of view on the difference between Indian and Chinese Buddhism that the former is based on the idea of "self-existing pure mind", while the latter is based on "self-existing enlightened mind", and concludes that the main reason for lǜcheng to criticize the traditional Chinese Buddhism is that he was aware of the harmful practice resulted from the traditional Chinese theory.
