Abstract明代南京佛寺修建分為三個階段：明初敕建一批佛寺，帶動了寺院的恢復﹔明代中期，僧人是佛寺修建主角，為寺院發展時期 ;明代後期，士、僧大建佛寺，是寺院繁盛時期。從空間分佈來看，中城、東城佛寺較多，南城最為集中，而西城、北城相對較少。寺院間距，一般不超過十裏，很多甚至相鄰相接。明代南京佛寺有名稱可數者近210所，總數起碼有300所，最多可能超過600所。
