The authenticity of Hsuan Chuang's (600-604)bone stones from his cremated body became a controversial issue, a few years ago, among the China Mainland(archaeological)scholars. The focal point of the issue revolve's around the insurgent ‘Huang Ch'ao's grave-stealing Incident’near the end of the T'ang Dynasty(618-907 A.D.), leading to the evacuation of the holy bone relics to Chungnan Mountain Tzu-ko Shrine. The pro-and-counter camps could not produce any conclusive proofs against each other's counter arguments. Their contentions are simply pure hypothesized conjectures. This paper is an in-depth analysis based on the finding and insights reached by the 2003, Huh County-sponsored‘Xuanzang Master and Tzu-ko Shrine Dialectics Symposium’sponsored by Hsing-Chiao Shrine. Hopefully, this study can shed light on the authenticity of the issue. |
